I get home from work, and what do I see? Ah, little Cindy Lou Who, but it is the stupidity of 18-year-old entertainer, Jordin Sparks!

After some hulabaloo on the VMAs regarding the Jonas brothers’ “promise rings” (apparently the host of the VMAs, Russell Brand, mocked their beliefs as well as their fashion statements), Jordin decided to quip, “I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut.”

Quite a statement, eh? So everyone who a) does not wear a promise ring, and b) has sex before marriage, is a slut. I love it.

I understand that she was offended, seeing as how she wears a promise ring. But to attack those who hold different values from her own is downright hypocritical. I’m assuming she is a Christian (who else wears promise rings?). Are these not the same people who preach tolerance and love for thy neighbor? Oh, that’s right: Love the sinner, just not the sin.

I do not condemn those who decide to hold on to their chastity belts with an iron grip. To each their own. But to ridicule those who have chosen differently speaks volumes of Sparks’ character. Instead of calling out Brand individually, who made the offensive remarks, she attacks a good portion of the population (I can only imagine how many of Sparks’ listeners waited until their wedding day to lose it). Not to mention the value of waiting until marriage itself: If everyone were to wait until marriage…wouldn’t people be getting married simply in order to have sex? As if the divorce rate wasn’t high enough.

Word to the wise, Jordin: shut your mouth before some slut smacks you with her IUD.
